About Carrie Print E-mail

Carrie M. Wrigley, LCSWCarrie Maxwell Wrigley, LCSW, the creator of this site, is a counselor in private practice at Morning Light Counseling, in Sandy, Utah.   Carrie has a passion for arming people with ideas, skills, and coping strategies that can help them build strength from the inside.

In her counseling, Carrie frequently recommends books and other resources to her clients to facilitate their emotional growth in the days between therapy sessions.   This website is an effort to make these resources more easily accessible to her clients - as well as to students in her classes, and to the general public.

In gathering these resources - books, handouts, articles, and other materials - she is delighted to now share these in a comprehensive, organized way on this site.

Counselor:

Through most of her career as a counselor and teacher, Carrie has worked as an LDS counselor,  generally in LDS settings with mostly LDS clients.   She worked for 17 years for LDS Family Services, and now continues to work in a gospel-centered environment in her private practice.

For information about her counseling practice, or to schedule an appointment to see Carrie as a counselor, please visit her counseling website, Morning Light Counseling.com

Teacher:

Carrie has taught for ten years at BYU Education Week, and in many other teaching venues.  She teaches topics such as "Christ-Centered Healing from Depression,"  "Understanding, Honoring, and Bridging Gender Differences,"  "Building Relationships That Last - For a Lifetime or Longer;" and "Building Blocks to Emotional Wellness - Even in Challenging Times."

She has also recorded talks on depression for Covenant Communications and KBYU. For information about booking her to speak at a seminar or event, please contact Carrie directly.

Songwriter:

Carrie is a prolific songwriter and arranger, who performs her original music frequently as part of her teaching.  Her songs focus on emotional healing, faith, and strong family relationships.

Her 3 recorded CD's, with their song lyrics, and much of her sheet music is available currently at her current music website, Morning Light Publishing.com.  This music site will soon be vastly upgraded and expanded, with full ecommerce and digital delivery.  For now, her music is available by mail order at MLP.

Many of the clients and students Carrie has worked with over the years come from an LDS background. Carrie has found that these  individuals, couples, and families frequently suffer from an overly-perfectionistic, incomplete understanding of Church doctrine, which can contribute substantially to their emotional distress.  She finds that when people gain an accurate understanding of these doctrines, inviting the healing and grace of Jesus Christ into their emotional healing process, they can find deep peace and insight to overcome their problems, and move on with joy.   For that reason, LDS resources, as well as general mental health information, are included on this site.  The religious resources teach inspiring and central principles; the general resources teach practical how-to strategies.  Together, these resources create a powerful synergy, allowing people to "seek learning, even by study and also by faith." Steve WrigleyCarrie M. Wrigley, at Temple QuarryCarrie's crowning joy is family: her five delightful children, and her wonderful husband, Steve, with whom she has shared 23 happy and productive years of marriage.  Steve is her business partner, artistic adviser, dedicated co-parent, and best friend.  They share the central guiding mission to "Make a Difference" in a challenging world. This website is another expression of that united effort.
